How much does a panel upgrade cost in Calgary?
A 100A-to-200A electrical panel upgrade in Calgary typically runs $2,500–$5,000. Where you land in that range depends on the condition of the existing wiring and whether sub-panel work is needed. Voltra quotes every upgrade free and itemized, then files the Alberta permit and books the final city inspection.

Signs Your Electrical Panel Needs an Upgrade
When an electrical panel can’t keep up with the household’s load, it usually tells you: breakers that trip when two appliances run at once, lights that dim or flicker, or a panel that still uses fuses.
Planning a renovation that adds load is the other trigger. An EV charger, hot tub, heat pump or basement development can push an older 60A or 100A service past what it can safely carry. Voltra checks capacity first, so you only upgrade when the numbers say you need to.
Frequent breaker trips
Circuits that trip under normal use are a sign the panel or service is overloaded.
Flickering or dimming lights
Voltage drop when large appliances start often points to an undersized service.
Fuses instead of breakers
Fuse panels and services rated below 100A are due for replacement.
Burning smell near the panel
Treat it as an emergency: call the 24/7 line at (403) 800-7475.
What a 200-Amp Panel Upgrade Includes
A panel upgrade replaces the panel and, where needed, the service entrance so the home can safely draw 200 amps. New breakers go in, including arc-fault (AFCI) and ground-fault (GFCI) protection where the code calls for it, and every circuit is labelled at handover.
If the home needs a sub-panel for a garage, basement suite or addition, it is scoped into the same quote. Work is done to the Canadian Electrical Code with Alberta amendments, permitted through the City of Calgary, and inspected before the job is closed out.
